Shave-Free November has become an annual event. More and more men decide not to touch their beards for a whole month. I always thought it was just a trend that appeared in some corner of the internet and became popular via social networks... But that's not the case!
You've probably heard of No Shave November or Movember. These are not just terms for a themed month of shaved beards. They are two of the largest non-profit organisations dedicated to raising awareness about men's health issues, both mental and physical. Together, the two organisations have raised more than €100 million for men's health over the years they have been active.
Taking part in Movember or No-Shave November is simple and easy.
To take part in Movember, register and choose how you want to take part:
- You can simply grow a moustache and use it as a talking point to start
important conversations about men's health.
- Take part in "Move for Movember", during which you will commit to walk or run 60 kilometres during the month. The number 60 represents the 60 men who lose their lives to suicide every hour around the world.
- You can host a "Mo-Ment" or a men's health awareness event.
To participate in No-Shave November, create an account and put down the razor. No-Shave November encourages participants to donate money to one of the programmes funded by the organisation.
Remember, people who participate in No-Shave November don't shave anything and let all the facial (and sometimes body) hair grow out. Of course, that doesn't mean leaving your beard unkempt! Make sure your new beard is beautiful and well cared for. Maybe it will grow on you and you'll let it grow after November is over ;)
